Debt Counselling at Tolworth Court Farm Garden Centre

Christians against Poverty (CAP UK) is an award-winning nationwide charity dedicated to helping people get out of debt. It works through partnering with local churches to offer face-to-face help and, through the work of a team at CAP national headquarters, plan a budget and negotiate with creditors to offer clients a pathway out of debt. The service is totally free and is open to anyone regardless of background. In 2018 alone 2,575 people became debt free through using CAP.

The local partner church, covering the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and London SW20, is St John the Divine, New Malden. Through running a debt counselling service, money courses and drop-in sessions we hope reach people who are overwhelmed by the daily grind of living in poverty and debt.

CAP was very keen to run drop-in sessions in other parts of the borough than New Malden and, on hearing this, SHEDx arranged for CAP to use Court Farm Garden Centre, Tolworth, to run monthly drop-in sessions for people local to that area and now, through contact with a local church they now have a better foothold in Tolworth to help people in that area.
