Wild Tolworth Survey
Tolworth Court Farm could be one of London’s greatest nature reserves and we need your thoughts and ideas to make it possible.
At almost 50ha, its size & location along the Hogsmill River mean it is an important place for nature. Despite being a haven for brown hairstreak butterflies, due to years of neglect & minimal use by locals, the site is far from reaching its ecological & social potential.
Adopting techniques used in rural projects, we will develop a pioneering rewilding vision for the site that stands to be the first of its kind in an urban environment. This will create an ecologically complex landscape, generating a wealth of biodiversity to be enjoyed by locals & Londoners alike. Working with & for the community, we will raise the profile of the site in an engaging & inspirational way.
We’re a partnership of Citizen Zoo, The Community Brain and Kingston Council and we have created this survey to ask for your thoughts and ideas about how we can unleash the true potential of this fantastic site. We want to hear how you feel about the space, if you use it and if so, what you use it for and if your relationship with it has changed over the past few years.
This will help to guide a co-created vision that will be based on comprehensive ecological survey work, extensive feasibility investigations but also the thoughts and views of local people who we hope will visit the site to engage with the incredible natural world that can be found on our doorsteps! This work is being funded by the Greater London Authority, as we hope to develop a vision that will unleash the site's ecological and social potential, challenging perceptions of what is possible in an urban environment.
We'd really like your help in completing this survey as fully as you can. We’d be delighted if you could also share it with others, so they can help too.
