A taste of Japan in Surbiton

On Sunday 25th February we revealed the Yatai at the Seething Festival in Surbiton. The Yatai is a traditional Japanese processional shed and our wonderful creation was designed and made by Kingston University MA Architecture students. With the help of local children and the odd guinea pig, the Yatai was ceremonially pulled from across the square to launch the procession which continued around the town. The Yatai was filled with bee friendly herbs, flowers and seeds which were distributed to festival go-ers at the end of the event to plant in their homes and gardens and encourage a more bee friendly community. The Yatai will now go to Dorich House for 3 months beginning in May for further engagement work.
