Waterloo Station concourse by platform 9, Waterloo Station, London SE1 8SR, UK
About the event
It will be almost 60 years to the day since the Mini Cooper raced into the nation’s heart with its sensational victory for Great Britain in the rally – regarded as one of the hippest sporting events of the time.
To mark this milestone, The Community Brain, in collaboration with the British Motor Museum and South Western Railway, are bringing the original winning car (registration 33 EJB) to London to celebrate its sporting success and shine a light on the Surbiton designer and engineer who made it possible – John Cooper.
Where to find us
We will be on the concourse at Waterloo Station all day on Sunday 21 January 2024. Find us by platforms 9-10.
There will be live music at the stand from 11:30 - 12:00 and 12:30 - 13:00.
Leaving its home at the British Motor Museum, near Warwick, the small but mighty Mini Cooper will journey to the capital where it will make a star appearance as the centrepiece of a one-day heritage display. This will give visitors a chance to get up close to the prestigious vehicle and discover more about the origins of the Cooper brand - which is still synonymous with Mini today – and its Surbiton connections.
Celebrations on 18 May 2024
The Community Brain is also using its presence at Waterloo event to rev up excitement ahead of its programme of Mini Cooper-themed events that will take place in Surbiton and the surrounding area throughout 2024. The biggest of these will be a gathering of more than 200 Minis as part of a family fun day
on Saturday 18th May.
