About the event
This exhibition celebrates Kingston’s rich relationship with fashion in the past, present and future.
The exhibition shines a spotlight on the Kingston School of Art and how it rose to become one of the most well renowned institutions on the planet to study fashion, from humble courses in hat making in the 1900s to high ranking positions on global league tables. It tells the story of Daphne Brooker, the fashion department’s transformational leader from 1963 to 1992 who elevated the course through international competition and industry links.
It is also be a showcase for the designers of today and the future, at the University and beyond. Portfolio collections of present day students and recent graduates will be complemented with contributions from the wider Kingston community.
