SHEDx secures GLA Good Growth funding for Community-led regeneration

Kingston Council and The Community Brain have been awarded £385,239 from the Greater London Authority to deliver SHEDx, a community-led regeneration project in Tolworth. The GLA’s Good Growth Fund is a £70 million regeneration programme to support growth and community development in London. It will fund creative, inclusive projects that champion innovation, high-quality design and collaborative working. This major strand of SHEDx is expected to launch later in the year and will run for a year. A taste of Japan in Surbiton

On Sunday 25th February we revealed the Yatai at the Seething Festival in Surbiton. The Yatai is a traditional Japanese processional shed and our wonderful creation was designed and made by Kingston University MA Architecture students. With the help of local children and the odd guinea pig, the Yatai was ceremonially pulled from across the square to launch the procession which continued around the town. The Yatai was filled with bee friendly herbs, flowers and seeds which were distributed to festival go-ers at the end of the event to plant in their homes and gardens and encourage a more bee friendly community.
